The Dalit people in India

There are 250 million Dalit people in India who as a result of the caste system are deemed to be less than human with no real rights of any kind.

The systematic denial of their basic human rights result in a lack of education, food, healthcare and economic opportunity, thereby keeping Dalits in perpetual bondage to upper castes.

What can be done to help the Dalit people?

Operation Mobilisation works with its Indian partner to support the Dalits in their quest for religious freedom, social justice and human rights by mobilizing human, informational and financial resources.

Education for Dalit children is one of the key ways of empowering Dalits and we aim to provide funding for Dalit Education Centres (DEC). Each DEC costs around £30,000 to build and will provide education for 250 children.
